Sending songs unsolicited is not a good idea! One of the first stumbling blocks faced by songwriters is how to get A&R to actually listen to your material in the first place. As a general rule, A&R do not accept unsolicited material and for very good reason.

Aside from the legal complications of accepting unsolicited material, A&R can face hundreds of requests to listen to unsolicited material a week. Where there has been no screening process or quality control, the prospect of wasting enormous man hours listening to all those potentially poor quality demos is unrealistic and therefore doesn't happen.

Our system allows A&R to make fast and targeted searches for music they are searching for. With years in the music industry we felt there was a real issue with connecting songs with A&R, now thanks to SPP, we have established a pitch system, and more importantly user interface based around A&R needs, as well as songwriters and musicians.

The standard way for a songwriter to find industry A&R contacts and leads is to pay for a "tip lead sheet". This type of service will tell you who is looking for songs and give you the contact details, and this service will cost aprox.£20-45 p/month depending on the quality of the service. We have all the tip sheets and call A&R daily to make sure they know about us and our members. Our cost is £15.99 per month with the main benefit being that we bring A&R and managers to you, rather than you sending out CDs to them!

Not only do we call A&R daily, we also politely email them once a month so as to remind them about our members and to build further awareness within the industry.

Whilst there are A&R contact details available to buy, the time and energy required to send your own song to a lot of A&R would be massive. In principle, pitching your songs doesn't sound too hard, but in practice it is very time consuming. Most A&R won't talk to you initially as they are either out at a meeting or you don't have prior contact and are deemed 'unsolicited'.

We take care contacting A&R, managers and other important music industry professionals, driving leads to our members on a daily basis. Once your music has been successfully approved you will be live on the pitch system. Because of our knowledge of the industry and unique A&R user interface we are able to approach A&R easier, and get our members music listened to more frequently than they would do if pitched on their own. Add to this the fact that we contact hundreds of A&R a month and also provide A&R and managers with their own user login to keep track of your songs, we feel our system makes sense all round!

Aside from only allowing the best music to make it into the SPP pitching system, we also limit the number of songs in each category to 50. This may seem a very small number but we feel it is a necessity to maintain exclusivity for our clients. If the limit of 50 songs is reach within a song category we will not accept any more until someone from that category leaves.

Every single submission to SPP receives a full song critique offering professional advice and suggestions. We do this before asking for any money so that you know how confident we are about pitching your material.

Great effort is taken to find out about new trends within the industry and to learn more about what A&R are looking for. Our pitch system is categorized to specific, common sense search parameters, which allow A&R to listen to the music they are looking for at any given time. This means that those listening to songs in your category, will be there because they have chosen specifically to listen to songs like yours!

When interest is expressed from A&R, you receive contact details immediately. Unlike other pitching companies, we keep everything transparent and open so that you act quickly if interest is shown.

All songs are critiqued by music industry veterans before being included to SPP. We maintain quality throughout the pitching process and offer the very best un published songs and/or bands in all genres.

Our search facility is simple, transparent and offers immediate access to very specific search phrases. A&R can specify exactly what sound, tempo, genre etc they want to hear and immediately listen to streamed mp3s of those songs we have deemed to be of high enough standard to enter the system.

Since songs are kept on the SPP database, there is no pressure to listen at specific times. A&R can choose times that suit to browse the database and save songs to 'My Favourites' and other useful folders.

Songs are streamed in a useful 'chorus only' and 'full song' form, allowing A&R to decide in seconds if the song is right for them.
